Despite the world's burgeoning population, there's a lot of group think and shared interests when it comes to deciding where to summer vacation. It turns out, people love to go to hot and tropical areas.

Famous beaches like those found in Barcelona or Miami, and scorching destinations like the Las Vegas strip, are among the most popular and sought after tourist destinations for summertime vacations. Here are some other popular locations.

Key findings:

• Both London and Dubai are the most common cities that people would love to visit during the summer, each topping the list in 10 nations around the world.

• People want beaches in the summer, almost overwhelmingly. The beaches of Cancún appeal broadly to Americans and Canadians, whereas cities like Miami, Málaga and Buenos Aires are the top spots for vacationers around the world.

• Residents in numerous US states and countries around the world expressed keen interest in a place that's literally right next to their border; Brazilians want to go to Buenos Aires, Argentina, South Koreans want to go to Tokyo, Japan, New Zealanders want to go to Melbourne, Australia, and Seattle residents want to go to either Portland, Oregon or Vancouver, Canada.
