    The video doesn't answer why they're different.

    The reason why they are different is because the toilet drain pipes are different sizes. The US has 3 inch toilet drain pipes, Europe uses 110mm (4.3 inches.) The bigger European drain pipe means you don't need the suction of the siphon.
